Competition

I decided to look at other channels who are in a similar vein to Sky Art in what programmes they show, i wanted to see how they compared visually and how they went about showing information on their websites.

BBC4:

To start with the BBC4 website is a lot more colourful than the Sky one and visually has a lot more going on. However looking more into it, the information it provides i feel isn't as comprehensive as sky's website as this seems mostly dedicated to showing the viewer what on the channel this very day, whereas Sky, whilst it does show things on that specific day also includes shows that are popular are things that could be of interest to viewers.
However one good thing about the BBC4 website is it gives a link to iplayer so a quick click and someone could be watching a show that they had missed, in balance, sky does have the option to watch a short snippet of programme which i guess is useful if you want a flavour of a programme your not sure whether to watch.

More 4:

Whereas Sky and the BBC seems to be big on showing whats on the channel on the current day, More 4 take a different approach, they seem to be dedicated to showing all the programmes they have on offer to view, much more than the other two websites. These can range from t.v. shows, documentaries and even films.

Although it does give a much wider view on what the channel has to show, i feel its a bit more confusing than the other two, as theres no groups or clusters to categorise things, so it is quite hard to navigate and look through to find what you want. The best way will be to use the search engine, however this takes more time and if your audience is of the older generation, the easier it is for them to find things the better.

BBC ARTS

This channel is much more inline with what Sky Arts is showing, the layout is quite formal, clear and very easy to navigate.
